Supermarket Media Training
Combining real-life experience with years of training, I offer group workshops and individual coaching focusing on media, social media and public speaking skills.
With an extensive background in communications, I have been a spokesperson for the food, grocery and healthcare industries.
I bring more than 20 years of professional speaking experience to the podium for both public and health professional audiences.
As a leader in nutrition podcasting, I offer one-on-one coaching to support you in the launch of your very own podcast. From preparation to production to promotion, I can coach you every step of the way on concept and content, skills and technology required, how to market and monetize your show, and more!
Melissa’s 1-on-1 podcasting coaching encouraged me to take the plunge into my journey as a Podcaster. She allowed me to gain confidence and provided me with inspiration for my upcoming Podcast, The Food Sommelier (launch date Fall 2015). Melissa’s down to earth style makes her super easy to talk to – – she is extremely approachable, warm, and supportive. She also pointed me in the direction of many other fabulous podcast related resources that I probably would not have discovered on my own. In addition, she went above and beyond by leveraging her connections to open a few additional doors for me. I highly recommend Melissa’s Podcasters Package to anyone looking to get into podcasting, or to current podcasters looking to take their show to the next level. As an added bonus, it’s a tremendous value (I’ve looked into quite a few other resources so I can say this with great confidence).
Annette Hottenstein, MS, RD, LDN, The Food Sommelier Podcast
As a former supermarket RD, I have a unique understanding of the wide range of responsibilities supermarket RDs have in their various roles and from retailer to retailer, as well as the challenges and opportunities the grocery setting brings. I bring extensive knowledge about working with brands and manufacturers, retail marketing and promotions, and engaging in traditional and social media activities to my supermarket dietitian media trainings.
Melissa listened to the needs of our nutrition team and crafted a program that helped take us to the next level as food and nutrition communicators.
Jane Andrews, RD, Wegmans Food Markets
Melissa did an excellent media training workshop for our team of retail dietitians. She truly understands the role of retail RDs and provided us with invaluable resources to help us streamline our planning process. She helped our team understand what we needed to do to plan, prepare, and deliver an excellent TV segment. We use what we learned for all of our monthly TV segments. She helped us take our media outreach to the next level. Everyone on my team gained so much confidence and learned how to make sure we are communicating a great nutrition story. She is so easy and fun to work with and we all highly recommend her and her training workshops.
Robin Hawkins, MS, RD, LD, Director of Health and Wellness. United Supermarkets

Melissa Joy Dobbins, Sound Bites, The Guilt-Free RD with Welch's.
Check out the exciting new research published in the European Journal of Nutrition which suggests that drinking one serving of 100% grape juice made with Concord grapes can positively impact attention and mood in young adults. In the study, participants were randomly selected to consume either the grape juice made with Concord grapes and natural grape sugars or a control beverage, and then were evaluated on tasks that examined memory, attention and mood. Participants who consumed 100% grape juice had significantly improved speed for attention-based tasks and felt calmer than those who received the control beverage. While more research is needed, this study demonstrates that 100% grape juice made with Concord grapes can have an immediate, positive impact on both attention and mood in young adults. Talk about some serious purple power! #ad Welch's
